Sealodge: ocean-view condos in Princeville, Kauaʻi

See live rates and book on hestara.com. Each condo sleeps up to 3 guests.

Aloha. Sealodge sits at the quiet edge of Princeville, high above the reef, with the Kīlauea Lighthouse in view.

A chair and lamp on a lanai overlooking the ocean

Hestara looks after six privately owned condos at Sealodge, a small community of shingled buildings on Kauaʻi’s North Shore. Each is a one-bedroom home with a full kitchen, a washer and dryer, and views of the ocean.

From the bluff you hear waves breaking on Anini Reef, and in winter humpback whales pass below. Hanalei is five minutes away, and a trail from the grounds leads down to Sealodge’s own small beach.

A day on the lanai

What you see and hear from the bluff, from first light to the last wave on the reef.

First light over Kīlauea

The sun comes up to the east, behind the lighthouse. Take coffee out to the lanai while the trade winds are still cool and the reef is turning from grey to turquoise.

Whales off the reef

Humpbacks winter in Hawaiian waters, most often from December to April. From 150 feet up you can follow mothers and calves as they surface beyond Anini Reef.

Golden hour

Evening light warms the shoreline and the mountains behind Hanalei. Cook in, or carry dinner to the shared BBQ area across from the pool.

After dark

Stars over the open Pacific and the sound of waves on the reef all night. Leave the windows open and let the ocean put you to sleep.

Princeville and the North Shore

Hanalei is five minutes north. Anini’s reef is ten minutes south. Keep driving west and the road ends at Keʻe Beach and the Nā Pali Coast.

  • A short, steep hike from the grounds down to a small, secluded beach below the bluff.

  • One of Princeville’s championship courses, with a walking path along its edge.

  • Groceries, coffee, restaurants, a hardware store, gas and a mail center. A path along the golf course leads there.

  • A lava-rock tide pool on the Princeville coast. Visit only when the surf is calm; winter swells make it dangerous.

  • A historic town on Hanalei Bay with restaurants, shops, beaches and the pier.

  • Day adventures in the hills, from waterfall hikes to ziplines and horseback rides.

  • A long, reef-protected beach known for calm water, snorkeling and sea life.

  • The historic lighthouse at Kīlauea Point, visible from many Sealodge lanais. The point is also a seabird refuge.

  • The end of the road, where the Kalalau Trail begins. Hāʻena State Park needs a reservation made in advance.

A rental car is recommended for exploring the island. Drive times are approximate.
